Mass effect how does it end ?

I played the game for 2 hours, i know basically the story. The Sicilius guy (or whatever he is called) is a traitor and you need to find him and kill him.

Can someone please explain what happens in the game briefly so i know the story in mass effect 2

Well you become a Spectre, chase Saren with the help of Kaiden Alenko, Ashley Williams (Alliance soldiers), Garrus Vakarian (Turian, former c-sec officer), Tali'Zorah Nar Rayya (Quarian on her pilgrimage), Urdnot Wrex (Krogan mercenary), and during your pursuit of Saren you rescue and recieve the help of Liara T'Soni (Asari archaeologist who studies the protheans).



Saren manages to stay one step ahead of you, but you manage to figure out the information that Saren was after at each location, eventually you catch up to him at a facility where he is breeding Krogans and studying Reaper technology, a major turning point here. Up to two of your squadmates can die here (Kaiden or Ashley WILL die, no way to avoid it, you had to pick one to save), and you realize that Saren is in fact being manipulated by the Reapers.



Eventually Sovereign (the Reaper that was initially believed to be Saren's ship, but was in fact a Reaper itself) launches an attack on the Citadel and you come in right behind Saren, kill him, and give the call to either save the council or let them die, either way, Saren's defeat causes an unspecified malfunction in Sovereign that allows the Alliance to destroy Sovereign, thus humanity either makes a new council or joins the current one.
