Hey, recently bought Mass Effect, and i thought my PC should run it smoothly, but audio and video seems laggy.

Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 ghz
3GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 9600 GSIs My PC Able to Run Mass Effect, Smoothly?
MAke sure you dont have at max quality settings
The only way you are going to get really smooth play is if you have your computer fully maintained (defrag, tempfiles) and run a Crossfire or SLi configuration
But if you get 30 FPS then you are good to go.
Personally, the 9600GS isnt all that powerfull i would go for the 9800GT to run games at high quality

Even on the 360 it sufferes from bad frame rate. I dont think it is your pc, I think it is a poorly optimised game.

Right well firstly i would have liked you'r Audio configuration and card etc. that would show me what type of card you have etc, there is a site which will auto detect systems for games etc. Google that.

I'm almost sure you should be able to. I can even get a playable framerate at that resolution and I only have a 9600 GT. I lower it 1600x900 to get 60 fps, but I think you should be able to run it fine.
Have you ever tried to run Mass Effect 2 on that PC before? Some players have problems with a 64-bit OS. If you haven't then try the demo first.

CPU and RAM are both excellent. Unfortunately, your laptop is only using the integrated video card.
IGPs aren't any good for anything above flash games. To play most modern games, you need a dedicated video card.
For example, my laptop has an i5-460M CPU (turbo @ 2.66 ghz), 4 GB RAM... and most importantly, an ATI 5650 Video Card. Dedicated cards (like my setup) cost more, use more battery, and run hotter - but they're essential for gaming.
Now, if you were on a desktop, it would be as easy as buying some new hardware and plugging it in. But in your case, that's not an option.
You have two options. First, accept that you can't game on that laptop and either suck it up or get a new one. Neither one is a great option.
Or secondly, there's something called Vidock. It allows you plug in an external GFX card and output the image to an external monitor. Unfortunately, the performance is a fraction a laptop with similar hardware built it. Secondly, you have an external box to plug in - to both your computer and a monitor.

You should have an introduction video. If you want to make a Mass Effect LP video. You might want to play through the game first. In any event there are a ton of games you can play and upload video walkthroughs to YouTube.

Processor problem with mass effect?
My cpu usage when I play mass effect reaches 100% and stays there for the most part and will drop down to 98 sometimes. I am wondering if my processor,intel centrino 2 duo, is just not enough for it even though the site I use to see if i meet the requirements for games says my laptops meets the recommended requirements. The only problem is cooling. If your fan goes full fury while you're playing ME, you may want to look into a bigger, better heatsink/fan combo.

The best way to do this is to go to a previous save, get 100 omni-gel, and use it on the core to skip the puzzle. However, if you really can't do that, here is how to solve it:

Now. Mass Effect is a well known Video game but also has two books that accompany the story. Now, being a video game, that often is a turn off for readers since often, video games are mindless killing.
That is not the case of Mass Effect. Mass Effect has an absolutely phenomenal story line and the books are enriched in detail. You don't need to play the game to catch onto the story, and you don't have to be a gamer to enjoy this book.
The bottom line is, these books are amazing books for those who like either adventure, Sci-Fi and futuristic fiction. I would suggest 12 years old plus readers because of the descriptive words and occasional "dam*" word.
That's the suggestion. Now my question is, who have read both or one of the two books? If you have, what is your opinion on them?Mass Effect Book Series.?

it's safe, you're going to get security warnings but it's safe. it scans your hardware to see if you can run the game you select or not. It gives you a detailed report when the scan is done.

Need help with remembering a Mass Effect 2 quote?
It is on Thane Krios' recruitment mission, when you approach the Eclipse trooper standing by the window. You enter the conversation, and it is possible for Shepard to threaten to throw the guy out the window. He says something along the lines of.... "Will you hear the sound when you hit the ground?"

Im definitely amazed, but the graphics seem to be the same as mass effect 2 ...

Should I buy Mass Effect 2?
I've been looking at the trailers and videos of Mass Effect 2 and all I can say is "IT LOOKS SO SICK!!" Now one thing I am really hesitant about is if it's gonna be like Dragon Age: Origins which was also developed by BioWare. At first I thought Dragon Age was going to be cool and I was going to like it, but when I played it, I was so disappointed and that I wasted 60 bucks. Now im just wondering, is Mass Effect 2 basically LIKE Dragon Age, like the gameplay and such but just in a more science fiction genre? Looking at videos of the gameplay, both the games are different being M.E. being a shooter and like looking more at a single character view than D.A. Can someone help me out before I waste another $60?Should I buy Mass Effect 2?
They are 2 completely different games. DA is a throwback to the old PC RPGs bioware used to make. Mass Effect is a much faster-paced action RPG. It's new shooting mechanics can hold its own against other shooters, not just RPGs. Great custimation, interactive cut scenes, fast paced action, this game will have it all. It makes the line between movie and video game ultra gray. The best thing though is the emotional attachment you will have to this game and your squadmates. In ME1, there was this decision where you had to kill a squadmate. After doing this, I really felt hurt and sad for days, even while not playing. Not many games can say this.

Mass Effect is my favorite video game series and I'm really pumped for Mass Effect 3. But I also feel sad knowing it might be the last one.

with revelation being the prequal, there would be too much the develpers would have to pigeon hole you into (ie,no matter what you wouldn't be able to stop saren)

Mass Effect sound won't let the game start?
After downloading the game and pushing play, it would load past the splash and then go black. I did some testing and found that my sound was the source of my problem. My sound and video drivers are both updated. I tried updating the game to 1.2, but now it crashes AT the splash screen, not after. I could play the game without sound, but that wouldn't be very fun... Anybody know the fix?Mass Effect sound won't let the game start?
Well, remove and reinstall the Audio Driver. If its realtek, its prone for problems. And you might wanna reinstall the Direct X latest version thats get supported in your pc. The direct X will most probably be provided in the installation disk. I had this same problem for Black Ops. I rectified it later with this process :)

Mass Effect 2 problem?
This is a problem which has plagued me since forever it seems. I purchased Mass Effect 2 brought it home and it installed just fine, however there seems to be a problem, the game will not run properly. It starts just fine and runs through all the opening credits and such with no errors but when I attempt to create a character it freezes up irrevocably forcing a shut down via task manager.
I thought it was my video card as Mass Effect 1 would not run until I updated to a new card and new drivers so I know it cant be that. Is anyone out there merciful (and knowledgeable) enough to help me out with this its really frustrating and I would be so happy for the help, I dont want to be stuck with software I cannot use, someone please help.Mass Effect 2 problem?

I just recently became a big fan of mass effect. I thought about how awesome mass effect 3 sounded, and I thought "maybe I should try mass effect 1", and mass effect 1 honestly blew me away. I am so excited for mass effect 3, and I have it pre-ordered. But, It doesn't look like I will be able to finish mass effect 1 fast enough before 3 comes out, or even get mass effect 2. I plan to refund mass effect 1 for the mass effect 3 strategy guide. I truly think mass effect is for me, and I am good at it. The connection to Dragon Age is that if you have a copy of Dragon Age and have the code for the Dragon Blood armor, that unlocks a set of Dragon Blood armor in the Mass Effect 2 game.

Okay so Mass effect is a video game where an Intelligent life existed billions of years ago but died out leaving behind this massive city in space. I'm not going to get into the details of the game cause it isn't important.
The universe is 13.7 billion years old. It's possible the planets began forming around stars after the first one hundred million years or so. I was thinking of getting Mass Effect 2, but after seeing both the cover of the game and a few videos on youtube, it looks similar to Fracture. I tried ME2 demo on Xbox 360 and I was actually bored of it in the beginning, I watched the video "previously on Mass Effect" then the other cut-scenes, and played the demo but felt nothing good from it.

If you spoke with him during Mass Effect 1, he would've explained to you that he can walk around with braces and crutches on but has to be very careful because a simple mis-step can snap a bone. Yes it should run Mass Effect 1 on reduced detail. That card has a 128-bit memory bus width, which is good for such a low end card even though it uses regular DDR2 modules and not Video card grade GDDR2/GDDR3 VRAM.
You could also buy a Radeon 4650 or 4670 which should work fine on a 300W PSU. Both these cards draw power from the motherboard and not externally from the PSU. They are also faster than the 9500 GT.

Yes it should run Mass Effect 1 on reduced detail. That card has a 128-bit memory bus width, which is good for such a low end card even though it uses regular DDR2 modules and not Video card grade GDDR2/GDDR3 VRAM.
You could also buy a Radeon 4650 or 4670 which should work fine on a 300W PSU. Both these cards draw power from the motherboard and not externally from the PSU. They are also faster than the 9500 GT.

I've run dry on video games to play, and I need something to entertain myself. I love the epic stories of space operas like Alistair Reynold's Revelation Space series and Peter F. Hamilton's Commonwealth Saga. Because I like these kinds of books, I love the Mass Effect series.

Which is better for me- Mass Effect 2 or Final Fantasy XIII?
I LOVE Final Fantasy X, X-2, and XII and would really love to play XIII but I don't want to wait until March. Mass Effect 2 looks great- I like Resident Evil, Gears of War, and game similar to those and that is available now.

It ahs a REALLY long Main Quest, ontop of hundreds of Side Quests and Guilds to join. You will have hours and hours of fun.

What I like about Mass Effect is that it isn't like many other games, all the alians in it and 2 Squad Members of your choice fighting with you make it great. Its free roam, the combat system is engaging, it can be scary and yet stunning with its graphics, and the way you play your character is very customizable. It can take up a lot of your time if you don't cheat, over a hundred hours easily. It also has incredible AI, the NPCs actually move and you have to examine them daily to know their schedules. You can befriend bandits even if you train in a certain skill. Though sometimes the AI can be a bit brain dead.
Though if you choose the PC
The best part is all the unofficial mods it has. You can add new quests, equipment, NPCs, companions, lands, enemies, models, and a whole lot more stuff.
Go to www.texnexus.com and just the good content alone can triple your game contents.
However, it can also become very difficult straining later levels, and a bit tedious. So I'd reccomend Mass Effect if you want simpler and less expansive gameplay.(Never played Mass Effect though)Which video game is better Oblivion on 360 or Mass Effect on 360?

Oblivion is pretty much the best videogame i have ever played and i have been playing videogames since Nintendo Entertaiment System and Sega Master System.
To tell you the truth they are both amazing games and even trough i prefer Oblivion, Mass Effect is still a great game who deserve to be played by all RPG fans.
i suggest oblivion because you can play for a long time and it has very good features and good down loads

yea, just go back to your earliest save before landing on the prothean ruin place and play the side quests. Go back even earlier if you want to be able to go to citadel. If you feel it ended too soon wait for Mass effect 2.Is the end of Mass Effect really the end?

What video game to get...Dragon Age Origins, Forza 3, Mass Effect?
I have Gears of War 2, Borderlands...i am getting Modern Warfare 2 and my brother is getting Assassins Creed 2, and i Still have a lot of spending money, and if i were to get another game, i would still have money for other things i want to get, so i want to get another game...the thing is i don't know what i want!

Forza 3 looks kind of cool, although i am not very fond of racing games at all.
Mass Effect looks like it can be good cuz it is an RPG, but i heard it is still pretty linear which i dont like. How many hours of gameplay can you get out of that game?

Both have compeling stories and in Mass Effect you can chose from 3 options of youre past that effect the story mildly, but in Dragon Age you choose from 6 Origins that Greatly Effect Gameplay. I have just started playing " Mass Effect 1," and was curious to know what a good build for my character might be. Of course this depends on the class, but that is related to the " build" of the character. For those of you who have beaten the game on the hardest difficulty, and are experienced RPG players, what is the most valuable class/build in this particular game?Video Game Question: I have just started playing " Mass Effect 1"?
My approach is to get to the highest level that unlocks the Master version of the power for each talent if possible, invest enough points in each talent to get at least the lowest level of the talent (and other bonuses), and max out both the class talent and either Charm/Intimidate. The only talent in my opinion worth progressing beyond maximum is Electronics for the shield boost it gives (270 points!) if you have a Tech class. It doesn't matter what class you use--that's a good guideline. Later in the game, once you get powerful weapons, you'll eviscerate everything in your path.
For a beginner, the best class to use is the Soldier, since you'll be able to learn what weapons are good and which aren't. I have an HP dv6t series laptop that I am looking to upgrade it to play higher end games like Mass Effect 2?
I am looking to replace the CPU, motherboard, and video card. How much would it cost me, and would it even be possible, to upgrade those to accommodate games like Mass Effect 2 - while I don't need them to run on maxed-out settings, Medium graphics settings would be fine. Well you become a Spectre, chase Saren with the help of Kaiden Alenko, Ashley Williams (Alliance soldiers), Garrus Vakarian (Turian, former c-sec officer), Tali'Zorah Nar Rayya (Quarian on her pilgrimage), Urdnot Wrex (Krogan mercenary), and during your pursuit of Saren you rescue and recieve the help of Liara T'Soni (Asari archaeologist who studies the protheans).
Saren manages to stay one step ahead of you, but you manage to figure out the information that Saren was after at each location, eventually you catch up to him at a facility where he is breeding Krogans and studying Reaper technology, a major turning point here. Up to two of your squadmates can die here (Kaiden or Ashley WILL die, no way to avoid it, you had to pick one to save), and you realize that Saren is in fact being manipulated by the Reapers.
Eventually Sovereign (the Reaper that was initially believed to be Saren's ship, but was in fact a Reaper itself) launches an attack on the Citadel and you come in right behind Saren, kill him, and give the call to either save the council or let them die, either way, Saren's defeat causes an unspecified malfunction in Sovereign that allows the Alliance to destroy Sovereign, thus humanity either makes a new council or joins the current one.

It's not that they don't exist, because the Xbox version suffers from framerate issues, but the technical issues are less dramatic than those of Dragon Age.
RPG fanatics will probably prefer Dragon Age because it allows more customization and has more traditional RPG combat. Mass Effect is an RPG/third person shooter hybrid that in my opinion is better than traditional RPG gameplay but many people seem to disagree. But as I said, if it's for Xbox 360 then Mass Effect is definitely the better choice.

Video game movies have a reputation for being horrible. Now, Mass Effect and Bioshock have my favorite stories of any of my games. But, so did many ill fated video game to movie adaptations in the past.

Yeah, that would be awesome, but we see the storyline as something that desires a movie, that would be an awesome movie, so we want something amazing, but we usually get another crappy movie which will disappointing. Mass Effect is being made by legendary Pictures who made The Dark Knight so these aren't rookies. Sure, they've made bad movies as well, but every studio has. At least they have good source material so if they treat it with respect it would be hard to mess that up.

Hey, I would NOT reccomend that card to anyone who is playing games on computers. That card is a few generations old, and likely will barely be able to handle new games with any sort of performance. I'd reccomend that you budget about 100 - 150 dollars, and buy something in that range. I'd reccomend the lowest you go is the Nvidia 8800GT. Even that won't run high graphics, but its much better than the 7300. Also you could go with an AMD 4850 , which runs around 160, but will let you play most games on HIGH settings. Hope this helps you out man. I know thats alot for a video card, but when you see these new games on highest settings it'll be WELL WORTH the money. PCI Video Card needed to support Mass Effect!!! HELP PLEASE
I have a Dell Dimension 3000 series PC, and of course, it only supports a PCI interface. I bought mass effect and the msr for it required an NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or an ATI X1300 XT. Unfortunately, those won't fit my computer. I've been searching all day and I am stumped as to what to use. Please help me out, I'd appreciate it a lot. Well, i just got the game not long ago, and i already got up to halfway. But when i was watching the X-play's mass effect 2 special story line preview, there were some videos that i seemed to have missed out. For example, When Jack escaped from her cell. I got Nvidia Galaxy 8400 GS about 2 months ago, and it' not catching up with the latest games. I am going to get a bunch of games soon (some listed above) and I need them to look pretty disent. The 8400 is not a gaming graphics card. That series of graphics card judges power by the hundreds place (200,400,600,800). 8800 GTX is a great graphics card and not too expensive. The only thing is, you may need a larger power supply unit. The 8800 will run a lot of games smoothly for a couple more years.

I played Mass effect 1 and have played it at least like 6 times all the way through (just like Dead Space). I liked it but it is not for the faint harted that is not inclined to get and do everything. If you only follow the general game and decide not to scan every inch of a planet and if you brought the wrong skilled character or your character hasn't the skill you need to go back to the ship and switch your side kick that has the skill and go back for the task.
I have not played Red Redemption but there seems to be allot of others who do. You can get a copy of Mass Effect 1 new between $16 %26amp; $21, used (which is no big deal to me) will be even less.
This just means for the same price as a new game or less you probably can get both used.
Heck Mass effect 2 is as low as $27 new. With tax and the first two used you could have all three for the price of a NEW just released game at $59.99 plus tax.

Should I give Mass Effect 3 a chance ?
Should I give Mass Effect 3 a chance ? I know what happens in the game, and it sounds so awesome, BUT, I have never, ever played a mass effect video game before, and most of the time, I think I am a noob/o.k. at shooters. But, I could at least handle myself on saints row 3 on hardcore. I think I was bad at call of duty, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure whether or not health will regenerate, but I absolutely hate constantly searching around for soemthing to increase my health if it doesn't regenerate. I also do not want to be scrounging around for ammuntion. Can you still play the game after you beat the story mode, do missions, etc etc ? Here is a list of games that I am good and bad at: I am really awesome at batman arkham city on hard, I am at least decent or good at saints row 3 on hardcore, I might have sucked at call of duty, I was a total noob at Skyrim, I think I am decent at Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, I am at least decent or good at racers, and I am sort of a noob/o.k. at fighting games, like marvel vs capcom 3, mortal kombat 9. Based off all this info., should I give mass effect 3 a chance ? Would I be good at it/like it ?Should I give Mass Effect 3 a chance ?
I suck at Call of Duty as well, but I just started the Mass Effect series last week. I was worried I wouldn't be good at it so I'm playing on normal, funny thing is now I'm ready to go above normal. You'll quickly get the hang of it, but you should play the others first to get familiar with the series, plus they're cheap (better to get something cheap and hating it than something high-priced and hating it). I think you'll like it though. On the previous games you can still do side missions and dlc missions for new party members. It gets easier as you progress, I think it's because you get more guns. Once I zoom in with the sniper rifle I no longer need the assist of my team. Hopefully it doesn't get too hard when I go beyond normal difficulty.
You should give it a chance. They actually have the demo out now if you want to try it on XBL and I am sure it's out on PSN as well.
